Jeffrey B. Teichert is the owner of the Teichert Law
Office. Prior to opening his own office Mr. Teichert completed course work for
a Master of Laws (LLM) degree at George Washington
University, with an emphasis
in British and early American legal history and environmental law.
(Completion of his thesis is pending.)
Before entering his advanced legal studies, Mr. Teichert was a public lands and natural resources attorney and represented commercial uses of the public lands throughout the west. His work has appeared before a variety of federal and state courts and administrative tribunals, including the United States Supreme Court and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Ninth and Tenth Circuits. Mr. Teichert also handled land use and zoning cases, representing the interests of property owners. Mr. Teichert believes that private property is essential to the preservation of freedom, and that the important work of environmental protection must be accomplished with respect for the rights of property owners.
Mr. Teichert received his juris doctorate from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1994. Immediately following graduation from law school, Mr. Teichert served for two years as a judicial law clerk for the High Court of American Samoa. During this experience Mr. Teichert gained invaluable experience in legal analysis, research, writing, and a unique understanding of the process of judicial decision making. The Teichert family collectively gained an appreciation for the warmth and hospitality of the Samoan people and their colorful Polynesian culture. After returning from Samoa, Mr. Teichert published an article regarding the role of Samoan custom in the law of American Samoa.
With a 3.86 grade average, Mr. Teichert should receive his LLM with "highest honors." Mr. Teichert has a particular interest in the English origins of private property rights. His lengthy paper on the subject (which should be published in 2004) earned him an A+. Mr. Teichert is the author of a number of additional publications and lectures.
Mr. Teichert and his wife, Juliann (originally from Blaine, Washington), are the parents of two sons, Errol and Henry.
